Wairere Site
The Wairere station was commissioned in 1925 with only one machine. Three more machines were added between 1938 and 1981. The dam is 3.5 metres high which sits above the Wairere falls on the Mokau river. All three penstock pipes are concrete to the point of entering the station.
The generated electricity is distributed into the local network at 11kV.
The station has upstream and downstream fish passages. These were recently installed to encourage the populations of native fish.
